Most people today want to be famous, but it appears that famous actors etc. are associated to with having shorter lives. Having a glittering career in the public eye may come at the cost of a shorter life, an analysis of obituaries in a US newspaper suggests.

It showed performers and sports stars tended to die a few years younger than people successful in other careers.

The researchers acknowledge the study does not provide any conclusive answers, but said it asked interesting questions about the cost of fame.

While listening to the Official Chart with Reggie Yates (a former Capital VIP performer) last night, I heard this week's number one album, 18 Months, by Calvin Harris.  I then heard that the album had only come on sale yesterday morning.  This means that preorders alone in the last week has led to the album topping the chart, which is incredible!  The album includes:

2. "Bounce(Radio Edit) Harris Kelis 3:42
3. "Feel So Close(Radio Edit) Harris   3:26
4. "We Found Love"   Harris Rihanna 3:35
5. "We'll Be Coming Back"   Harris, Elliot Gleave Example 3:54

This is a must download filled with some great songs!

South Korean singer Psy has missed out on scoring the first K-pop UK number one single after being held off by The Script and Example.

Psy's track Gangnam Style has become a global phenomenon and the video featuring his famous horse-riding dance is YouTube's most "liked" of all time.

Last week's number 37, it climbed 34 places to three but failed to knock The Script's Hall of Fame from the top.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg also made his UK chart debut at number 143.

The Liberal Democrat leader gave permission for a spoof apology song - Nick Clegg Says I'm Sorry - to be released as a single by satirical website

The track only went on sale on Friday, which could explain its position just inside the top 150.

All profits from the song will go to charity.

Gangnam craze

South London rapper Example's new entry Say Nothing went straight in at number two, with Gangnam Style finishing just 1,700 copies behind.

Sales of the K-pop star's single increased by a staggering 446 per cent this week.

The UK release date was brought forward by several weeks after the video notched up more than 253 million views over the last two months.

Esquires are an alternative four-piece band hailing from the South-West of England. At the age of 15 four boys met at school with a similar taste in music and from this Esquires were born. Their variety in genre is certainly different from other bands giving them a helping hand in a tough world that is today's music industry. They are now getting to grips with their music and rapidly increasing their song list.

Well one way to rise the anticipation for a new product is to take the owner of a website domain to court, because it infringes of copyrights, and that is what Apple has done.  They are expected to release the latest model of iPhone later this year, but is really the bet way to go about getting us ready for this, buying a domain they will probably never use?  It is unlikely that Apple will use the domain given that all their other iPhones and all product lines for that matter are sold through apple.com. Only time will tell what is going on in the mind of the worlds largest company.

Here are some things you probably didn't know you could do with the earphones that come free with your iPhone, they are better than they seem on first appearance:

To answer and end a call simply press the centre button. When calls are being received if you have the headphones in your ears you will hear music for instance pause and the ringtone begin. The ringtone will also be played through the iPhone’s internal speaker.
To use voice control press and hold the centre button for about three seconds and voice control will launch. For iPhone 4S owners this will launch Siri.
To decline an incoming call simply press and hold the centre button for a couple of seconds. When you hear the beeps you will know the call has been declined.
When speaking on the phone or experiencing content on your device you can turn the volume up and down by pressing either the plus or minus buttons on the inline controller.
When talking to someone on the iPhone and another call comes through simply tap the centre button to place the first call on hold whilst you answer the second call. Press the centre button again to go back to the first call.
When you want to end either the first or second call but resume the conversation with the other person on the other line, simply press and hold the centre button for a couple of seconds and you will hear two beeps which will confirm the specific call in question has ended. You will then automatically be swtiched back to the other call.
When playing media on your iPhone with the Apple supplied remote headphones you can also control standard media commands.
In order to pause a song or video simply press the centre button. To resume play press the centre button again.
Moving to the next song you simply need to press the centre button two times quickly.
To go to the previous track press the centre button three times quickly.
Fast forwarding can be undertaken by pressing the centre button twice quickly and then holding the centre button.
To rewind you will need to press the centre button three times quickly and then hold the centre button.
Adjusting the volume up and down is simply achieved by pressing either the + or – buttons.
The Apple supplied headphones also have an inbuilt microphone to allow you hands free calling.

If I dropped Rita Ora's name into a random conversation then few would know who I was talking about.

When I add that she qualified for Eurovision: Your Country Needs You a few years back then you might think that it's probably a good thing that you haven't heard of her.

Well you would be wrong.

Very wrong.

Rita Ora could soon be the name on everyones lips.

You may have heard her featuring, and when I say featuring I mean near enough owning DJ Fresh tune Hot Right Now (watch) - which is looking like it will be another huge hit for Fresh this year.

That still not enough to convince you? Jay-Z signed her to Roc Nation.

Yeah. You heard.

If the biggest name in hip hop signs you to his label then you must be pretty good.

Rumour has it that the 21-year-old London lass is working on a debut album as I type, and she has been linked to potential collabs with Chase & Status and Drake. Which is quite cool.

Check her out on Roc Nation here.

Or click here for her stunning acoustic cover of Outkast hit Hey Ya.

She may be hot right now, but she is going to get even hotter as the year progresses.

It is that time of year again when Mr Simon Cowell fills his overly high pants, through trepidation that the X Factor will not be number one at Christmas.

For years it seemed that the charts were to be condemned with the same typical regurgitated covers from the years X Factor winners.

Yet this all changed in 2009, with Rise Against toppling Joe, ummm I generally can't for the life of me remember his surname. Anyway last year, Matt Cardle regained top spot for X Factor with When We Collide (cover of Biffy Clyros Many of Horror)

This year it seems that it is more than a two horse race though. Here are the bookies favourites to scoop Christmas number one 2012 -

1) Wherever You Are - Military Wives Choir Backed by Chris Evans on Radio2, current favourite as things stand

2) Dominick The Donkey - Lou Monte I...I have no idea, but people are buying it.

3) Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana Classic. 20 years from release. Campaign by the same guy who got Rise Against to number 1 in 09.

4) Cannonball - Little Mix X Factor winners. Damien Rice's version also in the charts at the moment (which is much better)

5) Forever Yours - Alex Day Youtuber aiming for the top. Also in a Doctor Who rockband.

Isle of Wight Festival 2012

The main stage of the Isle of Wight festival has had some massive performers in the past.

Paul McCartney, Jay- Z, The Roling Stones, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, The Who, The Sex Pistols, The Police, Jim Hendrix - the list goes on.

This year the headliners have already been announced, and they won't be to everyones taste. There is definitely a more vintage feel than previous years. Friday night Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are top of the bill, which is peculiar, because I've never heard of them and asking around it seems that noone under the age of 25 has.

Saturday night American rockers Pearl Jam headline, fulfilling the standard rock slot at the festival, held by The Strokes and Foo Fighters in the last two years. Again the old school theme is upheld, with the band forming in the same year I was born.

Finally, Bruce Springsteen plays out the festival on Sunday night, and he needs no explanation.

Almost to compensate for such obscure headline choices, many of the other acts playing the main stage have already be announced.

Noal Gallagher, Biffy Clyro, Noah and the Whale, The Vaccines and Example give the line-up a much needed contemporary boost.

For the latest on the IOW festival keep up to date here.

For now however here is a bit of Bruce Springsteen.

(apparently he doesn't play this song anymore though...which is a bit pointless!)

Turner tells a sell-out O2 academy in Birmingham that he had to google the lyrics to one of his songs before he played the nights show.

A frank admission indeed, but more endearing than damaging. Either way, he nailed it. It also shows the diversity, no set list is the same and every gig is different.

The folk singer-song writer opened the Birmingham leg of the ‘England Keep My Bones Tour’ with the albums first track ‘Eulogy’, and went on to play a series of past, present and future material, including his latest single ‘Wessex Boy’, one of the highlights of the set.

He also played a cover of Queens ‘Somebody To Love’, which was a million times better than confused.com’s version...

Here is the set list:

1 - Eulogy

2 - Try This at Home

3 - The Road

4 - If I Ever Stray

5 - Reasons Not to Be an Idiot

6 - I Am Disappeared

7 - Love, Ire & Song

8 - Polaroid Picture

9 - Wessex Boy

10 - Nights Become Days

11 - Must Try Harder

12 - I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous

13 - Sons of Liberty

14 - One Foot Before the Other

15 - Peggy Sang the Blues

16 - Glory Hallelujah

17 - Long Live the Queen

18 - I Still Believe

19 - Somebody to Love

20 - Cowboy Chords

21 - The Ballad of Me and My Friends

22 - Photosynthesis

Following the runaway success of hit single Barbra Streisand, Duck Sauce were going to have to do something pretty special to mirror such plaudits for their next song.

The popularity of Barbra Streisand grew even more with the genius site gobarbra.com, which allows fans to make their own customised versions of the song. Try it. Hours of amusement.

Anyway, Duck Sauce, made up of DJ's A-Trak and DJ Armand Van Helden, have come up with the track 'Big Bad Wolf.'

On it's own it sounds like it has the potential to become a pretty decent dance track, but when combined with the 'crotchfaces' music video then it all just gets a bit weird/uncomfortable.

From then on the Streets will cease to exist, on what is sure to be a sad day for fans indeed.

You know you’ve made it when hundreds pack into a modest venue and squeeze through the crowd just to get a glimpse of any member of the band.

Even the bassist.

This was certainly the case when Bombay Bicycle Club rocked the O2 Academy in Sheffield last night, opening their set with the massive single - Shuffle - from their latest album A Different Kind Of Fix.

The indie lads from London played through their new album, but still played hits Always Like This and the more folky Rinse Me Down.

A criticism I do have is a lack of interaction with the crowd, and they did make a few mistakes during some songs. You would expect a band of their caliber to give a much tighter performance. Having said that they nailed their more famed songs, and the expectation and stage presence alone made up for any dodgy notes, or gimmicky interaction.

Bombay are currently touring the country, with 11 tour dates left in the UK tour (before hitting Brazil and Germany) So if  they're not already sold out in your area then I’d more than recommend giving them a watch.

For now, however, here is Shuffle.

If you’re looking for a chilled out album of songs that you can listen to from start to finish then I think you may be interested in this guy.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich plays in an acoustic style, with vocals reminiscent of Damien Rice, or more recently Bon Iver.

His debut album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, is out now and is a great album to listen to in almost any context. Ok, not if you’re about to have a huge night out - but almost any other situation.

The single Atlas Hands has recieved a lot of play time on radio1 recently, particularly from Zane Lowe, so you may well have heard it. Either way watch the video for the single here.

The York born singer has just started his tour of the UK, and is playing literally all over the country, so if you like what you hear check out his tour dates on his facebook.

Give him a listen and I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Having sofa surfed his way up and down the country, touring and playing loads of live shows it looks like all Ed Sheeran's hard work is finally paying off.

The ginger lad from Norwich has already released two singles from the album, ‘A-Team’ and more recently ‘You Need Me I Don’t Need You’, watch the video here. If these two songs are anything to go by then the album itself is going to be diverse, and anything but boring.

If you've never heard from Ed then his music is hard to describe. He plays in an acoustic style, and mixes in a bit of hip hop and reggae to shake it up a bit.

I saw him in a packed out tent at Secret Garden Party this summer, and he played a blinding set. He’s always playing live shows so check him out if you can!

Finally, here is an extra incentive to buy the album from Ed himself via facebook – ‘Album will be in every record store from tomorrow! (12th September) Even Asda and Tesco. You can buy a chocolate yazoo and get the album too, wicked.’

Brilliant.

Love them or hate them One Direction are going to be big.

Well, they are if the pre-orders for their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' is anything to go by.

The X-Factor finalists have broken the record for the highest amount of pre-orders from a Sony Music label, already. The single itself is not released until September 11th this year.

The lads, appear head to toe in Topman and All Saints gear (probably) in the video for the single here.

Stalker comment of the day - "Is it legal to have five husbands?"

It’s not really my sort of thing...at all - the song wouldn’t look out of place in a production of Grease. Having said that, it’s a catchy enough pop record, and will undoubtedly do well in the charts.

They seem like nice enough lads, they're enjoying the fame and the girls love them, so they must be doing something right!

Watch The Throne - Jay-Z & Kanye West

One of the most anticipated collaborative albums for as long as I can remember.

‘Watch The Throne’ by Jay-Z and Kanye West, combines two of hip hops biggest stars, doing what they do best. They have worked together in the past, on tracks such as ‘Run This Town’ and ‘Diamonds From Sierra Leone,’ and if these were anything to go by, then fans worldwide would have been in for a treat.

As such there was always going to be an incredibly high level of expectation and hype surrounding the albums release (12th August)

I can imagine I’ll be part of the minority for admitting that I am quite disappointed with the outcome, purely because I was expecting much better. Both Kanye and Jay-Z set the bar high with their latest solo albums, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ and ‘The Blueprint 3.’ Perhaps naively I expected the collaboration to take the best parts of both and provide one of the best hip hop albums of our age - it is a good album, but in my humble opinion, not great.

The first single ‘Otis’ is definitely a grower. I didn’t think much of it at first, but on the second listen the fusion of rap and soul seemed to make more sense and is refreshingly different. Click here to watch the video for the single.

The other stand out track for me would have to be ‘Why I Love You’, featuring Mr Hudson. You can listen to the whole album on Spotify, or download it from all the usual places.

Still, I may be writing this prematurely. The whole album could grow on me, as their first single has. For now though, even as I write this, I’m listening to a playlist consisting of the pairs previous releases.

Folk hero Frank Turner is set to release the third single from his brilliant ‘England Keep My Bones’ album.

The new single ‘If Ever I Stray’ will be released 29th August, following on from 'I Still Believe' and 'Peggy Sang The Blues' of the same album.

Listen to it here.

If you like what you hear then there is plenty of opportunities to see Frank at a live show over the next few months, which I certainly recommend. This includes the main stage at Leeds and Reading festivals, having worked his way up from the Lockdown Stage and the NME/BBC 1 stage in previous years.

‘England Keep My Bones’ is out now. It has songs to dance to or to chill out to and is generally a joy listen to throughout, that is unless you’re a firm believer in God - if so then I’d avoid the last track on the album ‘Glory Hallelujah’, which could well be an atheist anthem in years to come.

Nero are the latest band to gain commercial and mainstream success through drum and bass music, following in the footsteps of Chase and Status, Prodigy and Pendulum.

The London based duo of Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray have been raiding the charts since late 2010, making a real impact in the process.

Their singles 'Me And You', 'Guilt' and 'Promises', have all been well received and supported heavily by BBC Radio 1.

The boys have stacks of shows lined up, including a long stint in the US, before returning to the UK to play Reading and Leeds festival, having already played iTunes festival and Secret Garden Party this summer.

I was lucky enough to see them perform at Secret Garden Party a few weeks ago and they dropped some of the biggest beats of the entire weekend - to the delight of a full capacity crowd.

Nero's long awaited album 'Welcome Reality' is released on August 15th, and if the singles released so far are anything to go by (listed above) are anything to go by, then it will be a must for all drum and bass fans.

Sitting in an average boring physics lesson, i decide to see whats big on itunes, scrolling down I remember that the BEP's 'the beginning' album came out 9 hours ago, i have been anticipating this album for ages and im sure you are all waiting to find out if it is worth buying. What can I say? I know there are some people who may disagree with me, but this has got to be the best album that the peas have ever made, this time they carry on from using the combination of R'n'B and Electronic dance and im happy to say that they have aced it again, this album i think will got to number 1 by the end of this week is what i predict. Do yourself a favour go and buy this album, you won't regret it :)

We've all been given a preview of their new album with the song 'The time (dirty bit)' which i can tell is going to be played for weeks to come. The album is set to release in 10 days from now, will this new club angle album be as a smash hit as the E.N.D or will it go on the Black eyed peas blooper reel? Stay updated to this page to find out. Cya at Mistletoe :)

Aggro Santos Update - I'm a Celebrity 2010

Capital VIP has been avidly watching and supporting Aggro Santos on this years I'm a Celebrity. Subsequently, we thought it best to provide a little update on what he has been up to.

Aggro, somewhat of a smooth operator and dapper dan, has really been placed outside of his comfort zone. Used to being dressed to the nines and  accustomed to the VIP treatment he has been getting to grips with harsh conditions of living in the Australian bush.

Already he has participated in 'Who Wants to Eat a Willy on Air' where he lost out in an eating competition to X-Factor's Stacey Solomon. He had to eat a whole kangaroos's unmentionable! Gross!

He then got one over on Stacey by beating her in a challenge involving green goo, an obstacle course and a helmet shaped like a frog's head.

You can watch it all here - http://celebrity.itv.com/2010/TheCelebrities/aggro-santos-1186. Remeber to Like it, Tweet it and vote for our very own Aggro Santos.

You will also be able to see him live at this year's Irrisistiball (Wednesday 22nd December) - http://www.capitalvip.com/tickets.php

David guetta runner up in top 100

David guetta runner up in top 100

What a year its been for french DJ legend David Guetta. His album 'one love' hit record sales, his singles such as Memories, Gettin' over you and louder than words have been played in many clubs world wide. He has made a big impact live playing at major music festivals such as V Festival (trust me i know!), Creamfields, the Loveparade in germany and many other venues, he has won numerous awards including a Grammy award which can be considered one of the biggest awards in music. Yet with all these achievements and the popularity he's received he is still number 2 in the world. DJ mag announced the Top 100 DJ's a few days ago and i was a bit disappointed to find that D.Guetta had been beaten to the top spot by none other than Armin Van Buuren who has won the award three times in a row now. Guetta may have been beaten this year but considering the form he's in I'm sure Armin will be having to give up his crown sometime soon, we're proud of you Guetta. :)

Here at Capital VIP we are always looking out for great musical talent. Through personal recommendations and industry contacts we are finding some real corkers.

So, it was no surprise that after watching Olly B's music video 'Lost Thoughts' we made the call to sign him up to our next event

Destined for stardom, Olly B, has been performing for three years. Which is very impressive considering he is only 14 years old. His self penned lyrics have already made their mark in the music world and he is set to further establish his already noted impact.

If you want to see him perform on the same night as Talay Riley and Ultra, we suggest you book your tickets now and come down to La Fiesta @ Pacha on Monday 25th October.

Nearly a year after Kanye West famously interupted Taylor Swifts acceptance speech at the MTV awards he has apologised to her on Twitter. West even tweeted that he had written a song for Swift: “[It's] so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won’t take it then I’ll perform it for her,”

Rumour has it that the two will be reunited at this years awards on 12th September. I am pleased Kanye has done the right thing, but I am a bit scepticle as it all seems to coincidentally fit very well with this years MTV awards and the publicity they will both get for the reunion.

OK, so you know the BIG news - Robbie and Take That are officially an item again! I am soooo excited cos even though they now claim to be a 'man band' and they are all literally ancient, Robbie is still HOT. Can't wait for the new album and hopefully they will headline at Glastonbury next year. Also, will everyone shut up about saying that Robbie was mean to Gary and stuff. This is definately the best thing to happen to Take That ever. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!
